Surface dirt and discoloured varnish

This involves the removal of accumulated layers of dirt, and (discoloured) varnish. Then re-varnishing with synthetic (non-yellowing) varnish to protect the painting and enhance its appearance.

Paint Losses

Flaking and unstable paint can also be reattached to its canvas support by impregnation of a beeswax and resin mixture. This is usually completed before lining takes place.
